Catholics veil their churches at Passiontide in imitation of our blessed Lord. He often veiled (hid) Himself from His enemies. The veiling is a stark somber reminder that we move from the desert to persecution. Yet Christ only remain veiled from His enemies until the appointed time. So too, His Mystical Body, the Church, is at times protected from her enemies. At other times, it is necessary for her to fight, to undergo a Passion, and to die so as to rise.

Christ and the Church are one and the same, one Mystical Person, Head and body united. As they are inseparable, one can properly conclude that the Church will experience all Christ underwent: life, passion death, and resurrection. Christ’s life is the history of the Church. Yes, we are in the ‘End Times’, but these have been ongoing for 2000 years. Scriptures promise five signs will precede the Second Coming of Christ: (1) Gospel preached to every creature; (2) Great conversion of Jews to True Faith; (3) Universal mass apostasy; (4) Antichrist (5) Natural Disasters.
