Faith and Charity of the Blind

2026-02-17T16:19:12-05:00

In calling ‘Son of David!” the blind man acknowledges Jesus is the Messiah. In begging for mercy, he professes Jesus is God. The crowd -symbolic of our sins– rebukes the blind man because it lacks faith. The crowd is just a noisy gong; a tactic of the devil. The blind man calls out because he has hope. His desire for the Messiah proves his charity. Jesus hears him above the tumult and works a miracle. The healed man now follows Jesus. Pray, that you too will have faith by hearing, cry for mercy above your sins, and then follow Christ in [...]

St Hilary, Spring of the Church

2026-02-10T13:42:23-05:00

St. Hilary (~310-368 A.D.) is known as the 'Hammer of Arians' and the 'Athanasius of the West'. Born of pagan parents, he received an excellent education which led him into the Church. Contrary to his desire, he was consecrated bishop of Poitiers (Gaul). He was persecuted and exiled for faithfully defending the doctrine of the Trinity and Christ's divinity. St. Hilary insisted that if the Church made friends with the world then it was doomed. Yet where the Church holds fast to true doctrine, that is where she flourishes. How clearly we see the truth of his prophetic words today! Pray [...]

Mystery of Obedience

2026-02-10T00:46:07-05:00

By one man's disobedience, many die. But one Man's obedience saves many. Jesus and Mary obey the Law, even though they are not obligated to do so. By obeying the law, they submit to the Law Giver, God Himself. Obedience means "to listen and to do." Pray for the virtue of obedience, for it is by this vritue that one grows in wisdom and grace before God and men.

Our Lady Speaks with Symbols

2026-01-11T10:34:28-05:00

Our Lady appeared to two children at La Salette in 1846. She was weeping bitterly and gave mankind a powerful message. Much of her message is conveyed through the symbolism she uses: light, a mountain, hammer, pincers and more. Our Lady sorrows not just for sin but for our lack of repentance. Her symbols—the fading crucifix, the roses of charity, and the chains of sin—are not just historical details, but urgent calls to the modern world for reconciliation and prayer. Our Lady’s suffering is redemptive. She is the messenger that accompanies and leads us to God. And Mary herself is the [...]

Mercy or Justice

2025-12-05T11:16:29-05:00

There is always a tension between mercy and justice because they are irreconcilable. Only a Divine Person can bring them into balance. The enemies of Christ laid a double trap for Our Lord by bringing before Him a woman caught in adultery. Jesus writing on the ground connects this event to the apostasy of the Golden Calf. With a wisdom greater than Solomon He administers justice and mercy perfectly. None of us can make up for even the slightest sin because our offense is against Infinite Majesty. However Jesus’ life is of infinite value so His death can satisfy divine justice. [...]

Will You Reject God’s Invitation

2025-11-04T10:43:01-05:00

Have you ever wondered why Our Lord told a parable where a king has a wedding guest bound and cast into the exterior darkness for simply failing to have proper attire? Father explains this parable (Matthew 22:1-14), noting that the Church is signified by the wedding feast. Clearly, it is not sufficient to simply be a member of the Church. Now those who preferred worldliness –or killed the messengers– are the Jews, and their city is destroyed (70 AD). Their fall opened the Church to the Gentiles, bad and good alike. In baptism, the soul “puts on Christ,” I.e. Jesus’ mind, [...]

Avarice of the Pharisees

2025-10-07T10:19:49-04:00

In his gospel, St Luke often focuses on the sicknesses that afflict men. The various physical ailments also represent spiritual illnesses. For example, a withered hand represents the inability to persevere in good works, leprosy stands for heresy, and dropsy (edema) for avarice. The pharisees were watching Our Lord, trying to trap him. These pharisees would violate the sabbath to save their beast, not out of compassion or fidelity to the law, but on account of their avarice. (In the question Jesus poses, the ox represents the Jews and the donkey the Gentiles.) Their avarice reflects their pride. Hence, Our Lord [...]

Why You Must Take Our Lady Into Your Home

2025-09-30T13:16:44-04:00

Every Christian land has shrines to Our Lady. Yet the focus in these shrines is on Her Son, not Mary. We see this same pattern in the Scriptures. Consider the Wedding at Cana, the Visitation, and Calvary. At His death, Jesus asked John to take Mary into his home. Also, God asked Joseph to take Mary into his home. Every disciple of Christ makes a place for Mary in his home. And if she comes to a home, we can be sure her Son will be with her. Our Lady takes every praise or prayer we direct to her, augments and [...]

Temptations of an Implacable Enemy

2025-08-08T16:37:51-04:00

Our life on earth is a constant battle against evil. It begins in the heart. We see it at the root of the crises in the world and Church. The devil never ceases to attack and tempt us. We should expect this. After baptism we must pass through wilderness to be tempted until we reach our blessed home. Our Lord underwent this process; so too did God’s people under Moses. Understand spiritual warfare: satan has three basic temptations and you must be adept at resisting them all.

Many Are Called Few Are Chosen

2025-07-06T16:50:29-04:00

Hearing Scripture is not enough. We need to understand it. That means we need a proper interpretation; we must study the Scriptures with the mind of the Church. For example, we believe in the Communion of Saints. We know this from our Creed, liturgy, and life of devotion. Moreover, the Holy Ghost –through St. Paul– calls us to study and imitate (follow) the saints so as to arrive in Heaven. Look at the three apostles Jesus chose so as to imitate them. Peter was passionate, fervent, and always wanted to be close to the Lord. James was bold, fearless, and would [...]
