Passion Sunday Prayer

2025-04-06T00:24:54-04:00

The prayer from the sermon 'Passiontide and the Mass' given on April 7, 2019 Good and merciful Jesus —my blessed Savior!— what marvelous virtue Thou dost display in the flood of sorrows, sufferings, and humiliations, which overwhelmed Thy Sacred Heart in Thy passion from Gethsemane to Calvary!  What humility, what meekness, what resignation to the divine will, what patience, what charity!  Thou dost pray for those who outrage Thee.  Thou offerest Thy sufferings for those who persecute and afflict Thee.  How unlike I am to Thee, my divine Model!  How great is the change that must be effected in me, if [...]

Living Water from The Rock

2025-04-06T00:19:48-04:00

Moses led the Hebrews –and Gentiles– in the wilderness. They had no water, which means certain death. God's people were ready to revolt and return to Egypt. Moses interceded, taking an impossible situation to God. But why was Moses unable to enter the Promised Land? Because he struck the rock (Christ) twice instead of obeying God. The two strikes from his wooden staff represent the two beams of a cross. This is a type of the Passion. Just as an abundance of water flowed from the Rock, so too an abundance of grace flows from Christ’s pierced side.

O King of Glory, Jesus My Savior

2025-03-31T10:34:34-04:00

From a sermon given on the Saturday of the Fourth Week of Lent O King of glory, Jesus my Savior! what marvelous virtue Thou dost display in this flood of sorrows, sufferings, and humiliations, which overwhelmed Thy Heart!  What meekness, what resignation, what patience, what charity!  Thou dost pray for those who outrage Thee.  Thou offerest Thy sufferings for those who persecute and afflict Thee.  How unlike I am to Thee, my divine Model!  How great is the change that must be effected in me, if I wish to be Thy true disciple and to bear a resemblance to Thee!  In [...]

Good Friday Prayer for the Jews

2024-03-25T11:19:24-04:00

Let us pray also for the perfidious Jews: that our God and Lord would remove the veil from their hearts; that they also may acknowledge our Lord Jesus Christ. 'Amen' is not responded, nor is said 'Let us Pray', or 'Let us kneel', or 'Arise', but immediately is said: AImighty and everlasting God, who drivest not away from Thy mercy even the perfidious Jews: hear our prayers, which we offer for the blindness of that people; that, acknowledging the light of Thy truth, which is Christ, they may be rescued from their darkness. Through the same Jesus Christ, Thy Son, Our [...]

22LM_07 Unite with the Immaculate Heart at Mass

2022-04-16T08:02:12-04:00

2022 Lent Mission - Fourth Sermon: The sorrow of Mary's Immaculate Heart was the greatest during the Passion and Death of her Son, but so too her hope. At Mass, Jesus offers us the grace to unite our heart to the Immaculate Heart of Mary and to hope as she hoped in the Cross and in the Precious Blood. Uniting with Mary is one of the best ways to participate in Holy Mass.

22LM_06 Keep Your Gaze Fixed Upon Eternity

2022-04-12T08:31:05-04:00

2022 Lent Mission - Third Conference: The man of hope is not looking for a reward here on earth, but keeps his gaze upon eternity. Hope is a longing desire for a future good that can be attained, albeit with difficulty. So hope for the pardon of your sins, victory over temptations and a holy death. To increase and fortify hope, meditate frequently upon the magnanimity of God.
