Holy Job, a grandson of Esau and a wealthy king of Edom, was blameless and upright for he feared God and shunned every sort of evil. We know of him through an ancient book authored by Moses. Job is best known for the suffering God allowed satan to inflict upon him, testing his faith and patience. He never spoke against God but did 'curse' the day he was born. In this vale of tears, many people can commiserate with him. Our Church in fact does not celebrate the natural birthdays of saints but their deaths, their birthdays into Heaven if you will. The only exception would be the births of those who are born without original sin - such as the Baptist, Our Lord and Our Lady. With Mary’s Nativity, this spiritual desert so short on grace now has an oasis. We have a ciborium to hold the Saving Host… a chalice to hold the Precious Blood… a basin to hold the Divine Infant and the water of the Spirit that He will give to us in the form of Baptism meant to bring us an eternal birthday in Heaven. We now have the birth of the one who will call down the Savior.
