Five brief daily sermons on Our Lady from the month of May; first made available on the website this past week.
- As we begin the month of May, let us consider three reasons why we ought to practice devotion to Mary. [1] She is the Mother of God. [2] She is our mother. [3] She is the holiest of all creatures.
- Mary ‘s greatest title is “Mother of God.” This makes her an inseparable element of the Church of Christ. Our Lady is adorned with all the gifts of nature and grace.
- We should also be devoted to Mary [4] In imitation of Christ. Christ wishes us to honor and love His Mother as He loves and honors her; with His sentiments of respect, submission and affection.
- The mystic title “Mirror of Justice” teaches us that Our Lady is the most pure mirror of all virtues. If we wish to be devoted to her, we must practice the imitation of her virtues.
- St. Alphonsus was among the saints with the greatest Marian devotion. He recommends that we pray three Hail Mary’s in the morning at night, adding the invocation, “O Mary, by thy sacred virginity and Immaculate Conception, obtain for me purity of sanctity of soul and body”
