More people know about the Ark of the Covenant from the movie Raiders of the Lost Ark rather than from Sacred Scripture. In truth, the Ark was a sign of God's power, presence, and providence. It served as a throne for God and contained proofs of God's covenant with His people. The Ark was constructed from incorruptible wood and plated with precious gold. In short, it was made according to a perfect design revealed by God. The Ark was hidden by the Prophet Jeremiah on Mount Nebo (2 Machabees 2:4-8). Yet the True Ark is Our Blessed Mother, and some Protestants have attributed their conversion to this profound mystery.
