The saying, "Love the sinner and hate the sin" is often abused. We need to understand it correctly. Our actions do matter. Sin does call down the wrath of God. The unrepentant sinner will not enter Heaven. God loves the good in man (e.g. his created nature), but God hates the sinfulness which man has chosen to make part of himself. God looks at what a man could be if the evil was removed and penance done. By God's grace, fallen man can be recreated anew!
