9 November 2024: Vatican news correspondent Diane Montagna reports that the Traditional Latin Mass is being cancelled from five parishes in the Diocese of Tyler. This suppression of the Mass of All Time take effects upon the First Sunday of Advent. [See her report.]

A year ago Bishop Strickland was uncanonically, unceremoniously, and unjustly removed from the episcopal chair of that diocese.  One of the reasons he was 'cancelled' was because he refused to implement Traditionis Custodes and cancel the TLM. He said he could – in good conscience – harm his faithful flock by depriving them of the spiritual goods which Christ Himself entrusted to His Church. [Read Rorate Caeli's report here.]

Bishop Strickland has asserted that every bishop should tell their flocks that Francis (Jorge Bregoglio) is not teaching the Catholic Faith. He strongly rebuked the US bishops for remaining silent, warning that God will punish those who do not speak out against the false messages constantly flowing from the Vatican under Francis. At his Tradition and Sanity substack, Dr. Peter Kwasniewski wrote an insightful article on the matter Bloodbath in Tyler: Why (and How) Traditional Catholics Must Resist the Suppression of the TLM.

Dr. Kwasniewski advises the faithful: "“Do not, whatever you do, give in to the serpentine tactics of those who seek to tear you away from the most sublime expression of our Roman Catholic faith: the traditional Latin Mass ... Your ongoing fidelity to tradition will be richly rewarded, especially now that you are undergoing active persecution ... There is no substitute for the Mass of the Ages: the new rite is radically different from it at every level. Stay close to Our Lord in His Passion and Our Lady in her Compassion. They understand what it means to suffer for love and for the salvation of souls.” Note: He has two books related to this topic: True Obedience in the Church (2022) and Bound by Truth (2024).

Raymond Arroyo of EWTN has rightly called this action "scandalous."

Yet an even stronger response is warranted.

The very same day the news broke, Fr. James Mawdsley publicly posted the statement below on his X account. The truth and importance of his statement can't be underestimated. Such a response is needed from many more Catholics, clergy and laity alike.

In taking away the traditional Latin Mass (your letter dated November 6, 2024), you are depriving Catholics of what is most important in their lives – the proper worship of God. You are taking away from souls what is irreplaceable. You are doing this needlessly. Nobody benefits. Crushing spiritual orphans and widows in order to please the might is no defense. You will have no excuse for this on Judgment Day, except that you publicly repent before you die.
 
To attempt to force people to attend the novus ordo is the equivalent play of ecclesial power as the sexual degeneracy of child abusers.

You are trying to force those below you in the hierarchy to do something they find repugnant. You do not care one whit for their well-being, or even their salvation.
 
You are a cruel and spiritually abusive man. Repent.
