Christ Wants Humble Followers

Christ has an ardent desire for all of His followers have a deep lasting humility. Without humility there is no possibility of saving our soul. Christian humility is a supernatural virtue which provides us with correct self-knowledge by which we reckon ourselves at our true worth and so seek effacement and contempt. It convicts us that whatever is of good in us belongs to God and whatever is of evil in us belongs to us. Thus, God must receive all the glory and we must have the attitude of putting Him first. Moreover, we accept all our troubles without complaint because we know we deserve them and much worse. We should praise God and thank Him for mercifully sparing us of much of the evil we deserve. Let us in turn embrace humiliations with patience and love so that God may be exalted.
